Lectionary Cycle A 2013 - 2014
The liturgical calendar of the Church begins with the First Sunday of Advent and concludes with the Feast of Christ the King. Throughout the liturgical year we experience the life of Christ through the Scriptures and follow His earthly journey from His Incarnation, through His public ministry and finally through His Passion and Resurrection.
Catholics experience the bible mostly through the Sunday Lectionary. The Scriptural Readings of the Sunday Mass follow a 3 year cycle; during the 3 years the entire New Testament is read as well as most of the important readings of the Old Testament. The intent is that the faithful will receive instruction in the Faith from the Divinely inspired revelation of Holy Scripture.
This Liturgical Year, Cycle A Emphasizes the Gospel of Matthew and the epistles of 1Corinthians 1-4, Romans, Philippians, 1 Thessalonians
